First of all, welcome! My name is Johnny Nuanes.
Onward Financial was born from one simple concept; that people need help and people need to be loved. It really is that simple. This concept was something that my parents always instilled in my life and a practice that I am passing on to my kids.
Through my journey in life, I have been blessed with partaking in some amazing experiences that have shaped my life and honed my passion for helping people. I firmly believe that every challenge, experience, and person that I meet has been placed in my life for a reason. This would include the barista at my neighborhood coffee shop, the server at a favorite restaurant, the couple that takes walks around our neighborhood or the families that were placed in my life (no matter how challenging they may be at times).
This journey has been accompanied by my amazing and beautiful wife of 10 years and my adorable children: Beckett (5), Grayson (4) and Evelyn (2). These gifts that God has placed in my life have been the inspiration and encouragement for me to keep pressing for more.
July 2012, I was challenged by a friend who was asked me, "Johnny, what does the next 5, 10, 15 and 20 years of my life looked like? Do you have a plan on how you are going to get there?" At this time, I had one kid and another on the way. I was currently working for an amazing company () and on a promising career path. But there was something in that question that really caused me to evaluate my personal, professional, and financial goals. I knew that without a plan, I would be moving toward a direction with no idea where it would lead.
It was right then and there that I decided to go back to school and finish my degree. The next two and a half years at UNM were some of the most challenging years of my life. Being a full-time husband, father, employee and student took time away from hobbies, friends, and relationships. My wife supported me by taking care of our kids so I could spend my precious "time-off" studying.
August 13th, 2012, my life changed. My first day back at a university of which I had previously dropped out. The first day of returning back to a place that I never thought would be possible to complete. The first day of my new life!
December 13th, 2014, I accomplished my goal! I graduated from UNM Anderson School of Management with a B.B.A. in Finance and an overall GPA of 3.4. As stated previously, this would not have been possible without my amazing wife supporting me and encouraging me when I was on the edge of turning back.
January 19th, 2015, with my passion for helping people reach their financial goals, the new journey of Onward Financial began. I am excited to see how this story will write itself and the lives that will be impacted through this company.
Away from the office, I spend as much time as possible with my wife and kids. Aside from my relationship with Jesus, there are no other relationships that I value more than those of my family.
If you are around me long enough, you will find out that I am an avid Red Sox and Lobo fan. You might feel sorry for me, and that's ok, but both of these teams have a way of keeping me coming back for more. In all truth, I do enjoy watching and playing sports. Beckett just started baseball this year, so our life is about to get bumped up to the next level of busy. Grayson is very creative and loves to entertain a crowd. Evelyn is busy keeping her dad wrapped around her finger.
